Student Showcase
Class of 2014-15: McKenna Cromwell
STUDENT SHOWCASE: McKenna Cromwell
Musician
North Medford High School
McKenna Cromwell began playing clarinet 7 years ago in 6th grade and was heavily influenced by her parents who encouraged her to participate in at least one musical activity and one sport at all times. Her granddad, who also played the clarinet, was a role model and a large part of why she decided to play the clarinet.
McKenna participated in All-State band and Western International Band Clinic (W.I.B.C) her sophomore, junior, and senior years, along with being drum major of the North Medford High School Marching Band and participating at the State Solo and Ensemble competition this year. McKenna is a member of North Medford High School’s Wind Ensemble, Chamber Choir, and Concert Choir. She is also a member of beginning instrumentals (a class offered at North that gives students the option to learn an instrument), in which she is learning how to play the trombone.
Outside of music she enjoys playing on North Medford’s Varsity tennis team. She is also a member of Britt Festival’s ACE (Arts Career Exploration) program, an internship with the Britt Festival that introduces students to the many different careers available in the arts. Next fall McKenna plans to attend the University of Oregon where she will major in Music Education, in hopes of becoming a high school band director.
